The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year pre-university qualification for students aged 16 to 19, administered by the International Baccalaureate Organisation. Students study six subjects across distinct Groups, alongside three core components: Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service.
At Talimat, our IB tutors work with students at both Standard Level and Higher Level, targeting the grade boundaries that matter most for university offers. Many of our students progress to top universities globally, and our tutors understand the grade profile those institutions expect.
Group-specific expertise
Every tutor holds a degree in their IB subject area and understands the specific assessment objectives for their Group.
IA and EE guidance
Internal Assessment and Extended Essay support is built into sessions, not treated as an afterthought.
HL and SL clarity
Tutors distinguish precisely between Standard Level and Higher Level demands so students are never over- or under-prepared.
Exam command terms
IB mark schemes reward precise use of command terms. Our tutors drill this systematically from the first session.
IB DP Assessment Structure
The IB Diploma Programme assesses students through a combination of written exams, internal assessments, and the three mandatory core elements. Higher Level subjects require 240 teaching hours each; Standard Level subjects require 150. Every component contributes to a maximum of 45 points.
External Exams — Papers 1, 2, and 3 (where applicable) sat in May or November, marked by IB examiners.
Internal Assessment — Coursework assessed by the subject teacher and moderated externally by the IB.
Theory of Knowledge — A 1,600-word essay plus an exhibition, contributing up to 3 bonus points.
Extended Essay — A 4,000-word independent research essay in a chosen IB subject, also worth bonus points.
CAS — Creativity, Activity, Service — a non-assessed but mandatory graduation requirement.
Every Talimat session is live and 1:1. Your child works directly with one specialist tutor, on their specific subjects, at the level the IB actually demands.
Tutors work through IB-specific problems in real time on a shared digital whiteboard, with full annotation tools for diagrams and equations.
Tutors use official IB past papers and mark schemes during sessions so students understand exactly how examiners award marks.
Students share Internal Assessment drafts before sessions. Tutors provide structured written and verbal feedback aligned to the IB assessment criteria.
IB mark schemes are built around precise command terms. Tutors systematically train students to identify and respond to these in every exam question.
Every session is recorded and stored in the parent dashboard so students can revisit explanations before exams or after an absence.
Parents track session notes, progress summaries, and upcoming milestones through a dedicated dashboard, with no extra login required.
From your first enquiry to your child's first session, the process takes less than 24 hours. Here is exactly what happens.

The IB DP is relentless. Two years, six subjects, three core components. These are the parents who decided their child needed more than the classroom could give.
My son was commuting over an hour each way to a tutoring centre after school. By the time he got home he was too tired to absorb anything. Moving to Talimat meant he sat down at his desk, opened the session, and actually remembered the lesson the next morning.
Outcome: Recovered two IB grade points in Mathematics HL within six weeks of switching.

We tried three different tutoring centres for IB Economics before finding Talimat. The others were group classes dressed up as private tuition. Here, the tutor knows exactly where my daughter drops marks in Paper 3 and fixes it in real time.
Outcome: IB Economics HL grade improved from a 4 to a 6 across one term.

My son has CAS three afternoons a week and football training on two others. Getting to a tutoring centre was impossible. Talimat fits around his schedule and he has not missed a session in four months.
Outcome: Zero missed sessions across a full IB DP term despite a packed extracurricular schedule.

The Extended Essay nearly broke my daughter last year. Her Talimat tutor restructured her argument, went through the assessment criteria line by line, and she submitted something she was actually proud of.
Outcome: Extended Essay submitted on time with a predicted grade of A.

Everything GCC families ask before booking their first IB DP session with Talimat, covering subjects, scheduling, qualifications, and how the IB assessment structure actually works.
Talimat tutors cover all six IB DP subject groups, including Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, History, Business Management, Computer Science, Psychology, English A, and Theory of Knowledge, at both Standard and Higher Level.
Yes. Every IB tutor at Talimat is matched to the specific level your child is sitting. Standard Level and Higher Level have distinct assessment objectives and mark schemes, and tutors are briefed on which level applies before the first session.
Yes. Internal Assessment support is built into sessions as standard. Tutors review drafts, align feedback to the official IB assessment criteria, and help students structure and refine their work ahead of teacher submission deadlines.
Extended Essay support is available as a standalone focus or integrated into regular sessions. Tutors help students choose a research question, structure arguments, meet word count constraints, and prepare for the mandatory Reflection on Planning and Progress (RPPF).
Most families are matched with a tutor within 10 minutes of enquiring. A free 30-minute trial session can typically be booked within 24 hours, with no payment required before the trial is complete.
All Talimat tutors hold a relevant degree in their subject area and pass a 14-step vetting process. IB DP tutors are selected for direct experience with the IB curriculum, including familiarity with subject guides, command terms, and mark scheme conventions.
Yes. Sessions run Monday to Saturday, Gulf Standard Time, and are scheduled to fit around school hours, CAS commitments, and extracurricular activities. There is no fixed centre timetable to work around.
Yes. Talimat supports students across the GCC, including the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain. Students sit IB exams at their registered IB World School; Talimat prepares them for those exams through online 1:1 sessions.
You can request a tutor change at any time with no penalty. Your Academic Consultant will arrange an alternative match, typically within the same day, at no additional cost.
Tutoring centres typically run group sessions with four to ten students and rarely offer IB-specific IA or EE support. Talimat provides live 1:1 sessions with a tutor matched to your child's exact subjects, level, and assessment deadlines.
There is no minimum session requirement. Families choose the frequency that suits their child's workload, from one session per week to daily intensive slots in the weeks before May or November exams.
Students need a device with a camera and microphone (laptop, tablet, or desktop) and a stable internet connection. No specialist software is required; the Talimat platform runs in any standard web browser.
The IB Diploma Programme rewards a particular kind of preparation that most classrooms simply do not have time to deliver. This section explains what a 1:1 tutor specifically changes, and what a well-supported IB student can realistically achieve.
The IB DP is distinct from other pre-university qualifications in one critical way: assessment is never purely about content recall. Every exam paper, every Internal Assessment, and every Extended Essay is evaluated against published assessment criteria that reward analysis, evaluation, and precise academic language.
A classroom teacher with 20 students cannot consistently train each individual to respond to command terms at the pace those students need. A 1:1 tutor can.
