The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year pre-university qualification for students aged 16 to 19, administered by the International Baccalaureate Organisation. IB DP Assessment Structure
Six subjects. Three core components. One diploma that demands everything.
The IB Diploma Programme assesses students through a combination of written exams, internal assessments, and the three mandatory core elements. Higher Level subjects require 240 teaching hours each; Standard Level subjects require 150. Every component contributes to a maximum of 45 points.
External Exams — Papers 1, 2, and 3 (where applicable) sat in May or November, marked by IB examiners.
Internal Assessment — Coursework assessed by the subject teacher and moderated externally by the IB.
Theory of Knowledge — A 1,600-word essay plus an exhibition, contributing up to 3 bonus points.
