AQA A Level Economics — 7136
AQA A Level Economics (7136) is examined across three two-hour papers. Paper 1 covers markets and market failure, Paper 2 covers the national economy in a global context, and Paper 3 tests economic principles and issues using both microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis. Each paper is worth one third of the final grade.
Paper 1 — Markets and Market Failure — 2 hours, 80 marks, Section A data response and Section B essays
Paper 2 — National Economy in a Global Context — 2 hours, 80 marks, same structure as Paper 1
Paper 3 — Economic Principles and Issues — 2 hours, 80 marks, synoptic paper drawing on the full specification
Assessment Objectives — AO1 knowledge, AO2 application, AO3 analysis, AO4 evaluation — all four tested in every paper
Grade scale — A* to E; A* requires 90% overall and 90% on Paper 3
Talimat tutors cover the full suite of AQA AS and A Level subjects. Every session is live and 1:1, matched to the exact specification your child is sitting.

AQA A Level Economics rewards students who can evaluate confidently, not just recall theory. A 1:1 tutor targets the exact skills examiners reward in Paper 3's synoptic questions. Below, we cover what makes this subject demanding and what structured support changes.
AQA A Level Economics is not a memory subject. Paper 1 and Paper 2 each contain a data-response section that requires students to interpret real economic data, then construct a structured argument using diagrams and evaluation.
Paper 3, the synoptic paper, draws on the entire specification. Students must link microeconomic concepts like price elasticity and market failure to macroeconomic themes like monetary policy and current account deficits. Many students lose marks here because classroom teaching rarely has time to revisit earlier topics in depth.
A Talimat AQA A Level Economics tutor works through past paper mark schemes line by line, identifying exactly where AO3 analysis marks are dropped and where AO4 evaluation answers fall short of the level descriptors.

Your tutor works through all three papers: Paper 1 Markets and Market Failure, Paper 2 National Economy in a Global Context, and the synoptic Paper 3. Sessions focus on the topics your child needs most, using real AQA past papers and mark schemes.
AS Level Economics (7135) covers Papers 1 and 2 only and does not contribute to the A Level grade. A Level (7136) adds Paper 3, a synoptic paper that draws on the entire specification and is required for the A* grade.
Yes. AO4 evaluation is the skill most students underperform on. A Talimat tutor uses mark-scheme level descriptors to show your child exactly how to structure a chain of reasoning, weigh competing arguments, and reach a supported judgement.
From your first enquiry, your Academic Consultant can match your child with a suitable AQA Economics tutor in under 10 minutes. Sessions are available Monday to Saturday at Gulf Standard Time.
A Level tutoring starts from AED 65 per hour. There is no enrolment deposit and no hidden fees. You can cancel at any time.
Every tutor holds a relevant degree in Economics or a closely related discipline and is screened through a 14-step vetting process. Tutors are matched specifically to the AQA 7136 specification, not a generic economics syllabus.
Absolutely. One of the clearest advantages of 1:1 support is the ability to go back and fill gaps without holding a whole class back. Your tutor will assess where the gaps are in the first session and build a plan around them.
AQA A Level qualifications are internationally recognised and accepted by universities across the GCC, the UK, and beyond. Students in the UAE and KSA regularly use AQA A Level Economics as part of their university applications.
