AQA A Level Further Mathematics Specification
The AQA A Level Further Mathematics specification spans four externally examined papers. Paper 1 and Paper 2 are compulsory Core Pure papers. Papers 3 and 4 are chosen from optional routes including Further Statistics, Further Mechanics, and Discrete Mathematics. All papers are 2 hours and worth 100 marks each.
Core Pure 1 — Complex numbers, argand diagrams, series, roots of polynomials, matrices, further algebra and calculus, further vectors
Core Pure 2 — Complex numbers (modulus-argument), series, methods in calculus, volumes of revolution, polar coordinates, hyperbolic functions, differential equations
Further Statistics (Option) — Probability distributions, chi-squared tests, continuous random variables, combinations of random variables, estimation, hypothesis testing
Further Mechanics (Option) — Momentum and collisions, work, energy and power, elastic strings and springs, circular motion, simple harmonic motion
Discrete Mathematics (Option) — Graphs, networks, algorithms, linear programming, game theory, binary operations, group theory
Talimat tutors support students across all major AQA A Level subjects. If your child takes Further Mathematics alongside other sciences or social sciences, we can match them with specialist tutors for each.

AQA A Level Further Mathematics uses a five-grade letter scale from A* (highest) to E (minimum pass). An A* requires a combined uniform mark score of 90 or above across all four papers.
Top Performers: Grade A* Award
Achieving A* in AQA A Level Further Mathematics requires a uniform mark score of at least 90 across all four papers, including both Core Pure components.
The grading scale shown applies specifically to AQA A Level qualifications and may differ from Cambridge IGCSE, Edexcel, or IB programmes. Speak to your Academic Consultant for board-specific guidance.

AQA A Level Further Mathematics is widely regarded as the hardest A Level available. The jump from A Level Mathematics is steep, and most students hit a wall somewhere between Core Pure 1 and their optional papers. A specialist tutor changes what self-study and a busy classroom cannot.
AQA A Level Further Mathematics sits alongside regular A Level Mathematics and is examined across four separate papers. Papers 1 and 2 cover Core Pure content, including complex numbers in modulus-argument form, matrices, further calculus techniques, and polar coordinates. Papers 3 and 4 draw from optional routes: Further Statistics, Further Mechanics, or Discrete Mathematics.
For British curriculum families in the GCC, Further Mathematics is frequently a requirement or strong advantage for university offers in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, and Computer Science at UK institutions. Many top universities in the UK list Further Mathematics as a preferred or required A Level for competitive courses.
A 1:1 AQA A Level Further Mathematics tutor from Talimat works directly on the papers your child is taking, not a generic syllabus. Sessions run live online, Monday to Saturday, with a dedicated Academic Consultant assigned from day one to track progress across all four papers.

Not necessarily, but it depends on how much support your child needs across both. Most students doing AQA A Level Further Mathematics benefit from a tutor who can work across both the regular A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics papers, since the content overlaps in places such as calculus and vectors. Tell your Academic Consultant which papers need the most attention.
Students take Core Pure 1 and Core Pure 2 as compulsory papers, then choose two optional papers from Further Statistics, Further Mechanics, and Discrete Mathematics. Your tutor will focus sessions on whichever combination your school has entered you for.
Typically within 10 minutes of your request. Our Academic Consultant will confirm the match based on your child's current AQA papers, year group, and the topics causing the most difficulty.
Sessions are live and 1:1. A typical session starts with a short review of the previous topic, then works through exam-style questions from the relevant AQA paper, such as proof by induction from Core Pure 1 or network algorithms from Discrete Mathematics, and ends with a short target for the next session.
Yes. Talimat tutors support both AS Level and A Level Further Mathematics. If your child is sitting the AS Level only, the tutor will focus on the two AS papers: Core Pure and one optional paper.
A Level tutoring starts from AED 65 per hour. There is no enrolment deposit and no hidden fees. You can cancel anytime. Your Academic Consultant can outline the recommended session frequency based on your child's current grade and exam timeline.
All Talimat tutors hold a relevant degree in their subject area and are screened through a 14-step vetting process. Tutors assigned to AQA Further Mathematics hold degrees in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
That is exactly what 1:1 tuition is for. Your tutor can spend an entire session on a single topic, such as solving second-order differential equations or converting between Cartesian and polar forms, without moving on until your child is confident.
