AQA A Level Mathematics — 7357
AQA A Level Mathematics (7357) is assessed across three two-hour papers. Paper 1 and Paper 2 cover Pure Mathematics. Paper 3 tests Statistics and Mechanics in a single sitting. Each paper carries 100 marks, giving a total of 300 marks for the qualification.
Paper 1 and Paper 2 — Pure Mathematics only — proof, algebra, calculus, trigonometry, vectors
Paper 3 — Statistics (sampling, probability distributions, hypothesis testing) and Mechanics (kinematics, forces, moments)
Assessment Objectives — AO1: Use and apply standard techniques; AO2: Reason, interpret, communicate; AO3: Solve problems in context
Large Data Set — Students must engage with the pre-release data set for the Statistics component
Grading — A* to E; A* requires 90% uniform mark scale (UMS) overall and 80% on the combined A Level grade
Talimat tutors cover the full range of AQA AS and A Level subjects. Find specialist support for the paper your child is sitting.

AQA A Level Mathematics is graded A* to E. The A* grade requires a minimum of 90% on the uniform mark scale overall, with at least 80% across the A Level papers.
Top Performers – Grade A* Award
Achieving A* in AQA A Level Mathematics requires 90% or above on the uniform mark scale overall, combined with at least 80% on Papers 1 and 2.
The grading scale shown applies to AQA A Level qualifications and may differ from Cambridge IGCSE, Edexcel, or IB programmes. Speak to your Academic Consultant for board-specific guidance.

AQA A Level Mathematics is widely regarded as one of the most demanding A Level choices. The jump from GCSE is steep, the content is cumulative, and Paper 3 mixes Statistics and Mechanics in one sitting. Here is what genuinely moves grades.
The AQA A Level Mathematics specification (7357) covers Pure Mathematics across Papers 1 and 2, then tests Statistics and Mechanics together in Paper 3. Many students find the integration of these three strands in one course the hardest adjustment from GCSE.
Pure Mathematics topics include proof by contradiction, binomial expansion, differentiation and integration techniques, partial fractions, and parametric equations. These build directly on each other. A gap in algebraic manipulation in Year 12 creates compounding problems in calculus by Year 13.
The Statistics component requires familiarity with the AQA pre-release Large Data Set. Exam questions can only be answered confidently if a student has spent time exploring that data set before the exam, something a 1:1 tutor can structure into each session.

Trusted by families across the Gulf
Your Academic Consultant takes a brief on your child's current grade, target grade, and which AQA Mathematics papers they need support on, including whether they are sitting AS or full A Level.
We match your child with a vetted, degree-qualified Mathematics tutor within 10 minutes. You can review the tutor's profile before confirming.
Your child attends a free live 1:1 session. The tutor identifies specific gaps across Pure, Statistics, or Mechanics, and sets a personalised plan.
Regular live sessions run Monday to Saturday, Gulf Standard Time. Your parent dashboard shows session notes, progress, and upcoming bookings at a glance.

A tutor covers the full specification: Pure Mathematics across Papers 1 and 2 (proof, calculus, trigonometry, algebra, vectors) and Statistics and Mechanics in Paper 3. Sessions are tailored to the student's weakest areas.
AS Level Mathematics (7356) is a standalone qualification covering roughly Year 12 content. A Level (7357) builds on this across two years, with all three papers sat at the end of Year 13. AS results do not count towards the A Level grade.
AQA A Level Mathematics tutoring starts from AED 65 per hour. There is no enrolment deposit and you can cancel anytime with no hidden fees.
Talimat is not a registered exam centre. Students in the Gulf typically sit AQA exams through approved local or international school exam centres. Contact us and your Academic Consultant will advise on options in your city.
The Large Data Set is a pre-release data resource students must engage with before Paper 3. AQA publishes it in advance of the exam series. Our tutors incorporate it into Statistics sessions so students can answer contextual questions with confidence.
You can be matched with a qualified AQA Mathematics tutor in under 10 minutes. Sessions run Monday to Saturday, Gulf Standard Time, so a first lesson can often happen the same day.
Yes. Most Talimat AQA Mathematics tutors are comfortable across all three strands. If your child needs very focused Mechanics support, your Academic Consultant will match them with a tutor who has particular strength in applied mathematics.
The A* requires a minimum of 90% on the uniform mark scale overall, combined with at least 80% on the aggregate of Papers 1 and 2. It is awarded only at A Level, not at AS Level.
